Well, I am thrilled to announce that since my last style post, last week, Summer has finally arrived here on the North West coast, and I have to tell you, it feels like Christmas in July! One day I’m rocking my favorite pair of jeans and a signature blazer, and the next I’m dragging out my booty shorts and tank tops. Yeah right! I wouldn’t be caught dead in booty shorts! That is just not something that the world needs to see, so I will spare you all the trauma! But the warm weather does out come the rompers, maxi skirts, cut-off’s and of course, a whole slew of summer dresses.
Summer means a million and one things for an on-the-go gal like myself. It means picnics at the beach, theater in the park, afternoons on the patio and tons of fabulous evening soirĂ©es. And let me tell you, I live for a good party, and the last thing I want to do is spend more than ten minutes trying to figure out what to wear. So back in May and June when the weather was super depressing here, I indulged in some serious retail therapy, and put together a rainbow of party dress options so I’d never run out of outfits when the good weather finally arrived.
I adore color, and I don’t think that we all wear enough of it. This purple Grecian style dress pictured here is one of my new favorites, for a whole host of reasons. One, purple is one of my favorite colors, and as long you’re not wearing something that makes you look like you’re a stand-in for Barney the dinosaur, it’s a color that looks good on most people! A great summer dress is also one that is designed to hang somewhat loose about the body, especially if you’re going to be frolicking about in the heat. So stick to cottons, cotton blends, breathable chiffons and silks.
As for accessories, because this was for an evening event, I’ve chose to wear golds. I’m wearing platform gold sandals with cork soles, which are fantastic for an evening of dancing! And chunky rings or cuffs are also a great way to embellish you look. Pair this with a fabulous gold or black sequined clutch and voila, a garden party diva is born!
